Family Gardening!

Gardening in our backyard is something we all enjoy! We spend time out by the garden each evening before or after dinner watering, harvesting and visiting with our growing plants! Jack is quick to remind us "it's time to check the garden!"

This year our raspberry plants just produced a few raspberries a day but Jack and Elisabeth loved that they got to run out and check for red ones each night and often come back with a little treat! We have since planted more bushes in hopes that next year we will have more.

At the end June Jack harvested the first few yellow squash and he was so excited about it! "Mama, Papa, this is the best EVER!!!"

This year in our garden beds we have tomatoes, yellow squash, green bell peppers, banana peppers, kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, cucumbers, and rosemary. Up on our deck in planter boxes we also have more tomatoes (cherry tomatoes for The kids to munch on while they play outside!), kale, swish chard, basil, parsley and chives.

Joe spent many years working on a farm as a kid/teenager and so he is the garden manager but does such a great job teaching Jack how to care for the garden and assigns him jobs that Jack takes very seriously!

The first cherry tomato from Jacks own tomato plant!

His favorite job (second to eating the yummy vegetables we pick) is watering! He is really good at it too! Tonight I was inside making dinner and Jack knocks on the back door and asks "mama, can you please turn on the water I need to water the garden."  I left him alone with the hose and the watering was done!

Gardening has become a summer family favorite. Each year the garden gets a little bigger and my ideas grow on how to expand it next year ;)

Coney Island Adventure!

Omi and Opa Bill took Jack and Henry on a special day to Old Coney! The boys (and Omi and Opa) had a fabulous day!!

Jack can't stop talking about his special day and all the rides and Ice cream ;)

As a child I always got to go with my sisters on a special day with my Oma and Opa and I have such fond memories of those days! I love that my Mom is continuing the tradition! Thank you Omi and Opa Bill! A very memorable day!

Staying Cool - a collection of summer fun!

We have had some awesome hot weather recently! We've tried to include water in any activity we can! Walks downtown, splash parks all over the city, many evenings at the pool, weekend swim lessons, lots and lots of bike rides and our after dinner Xavier walk we all enjoy!

One of jacks favorite activities is building a train village - complete with a lake full of fish, a zoo, an airport, a construction site,a water tower, a police station, and a few house for the workers employed in the train village.

Just a collection of photos that speak to the fun we've been having this summer!

There is a free kids yoga class at a park downtown that we have enjoyed!

Elisabeth is such an independent and adventurous little one! There really is not
Much that scares her - she can often be found climbing up all on her own to the top of the tallest slide at the park...

Joes parents came in town for a weekend and we had such a nice visit!

We have a great walk we take around Xavier A few nights a week and the kids love it because Jack always brings his sword so we can stop and play "king of the castle" around all the cool Xavier buildings! (And cool off in the fountain like the classy locals that we are...)

The annual Norwood Day Eve parade is always a hit!

Joe and Dave were given some awesome tickets to the Reds game and the boys loved it!!!
