Enjoying the Last Bit of Summer

I felt so lucky this year that the kids had a late school year start.  We so enjoyed our extra time and lived into the summer awhile longer while lots of other kids in the city returned to school.  We spent lots of time at the pool, went downtown to play, played lots of board games and walks around the neighborhood.  Great memories!

The kids were bowing after putting on a show for us on the driveway

Family zoo outting!

I took the kid to the art museum for a scavenger hunt and art play!

SOO many pool days this summer!

Soaking up my time peacefully watching all 4 kids built duplo together on the back patio!

We stopped downtown to run an errand and ended up grabbing lunch and playing at the river playground for a  little bit!

We jumped on the city bus that picks us up at the end of our street and rode it downtown.  This day was a total highlight! We rode the bus, played in the fountains, played family and jaguars at the playground, played in the large sand pit, ate a picnic lunch and even had time to lay under a tree for me to read aloud the chapter book we are reading before catching the bus back home - a super memorable day!!

The kids are always playing "family" and josie never misses a chance to hold "baby charlotte" on her lap

We got to sneak out on just a big kid date the night before school started and head out downtown.  We played a board game at a bar followed by the reds game!  Love having special time with the older 2 and having time and space to listen to them talk and ask questions and pay attention to how grown up they are getting

Welcome to the New school year - I can't say I am ever excited for summer to end.  The summers seem to just get better and fuller and more memorable!  I will always cherish every moment of summer with young kids.  They still so much enjoy being with me, love a family day at the pool, are up for most adventures and still enjoy snuggly quiet and slow mornings with their Mama!  I am always a bit tearful on those first few days of school saying goodbye to them in the courtyard!
